Bad Breath Remedies – Bad Breath Home Remedies
The following are bad breath home remedies.
These natural remedies are readily available from ingredients found in the kitchen, garden or from your local supermarket. Some of these bad breath home remedies have been around for centuries and have no doubt proved their effectiveness for countless people.
They are not guaranteed to work for you, but they might be worth a try. I have tried a couple of them myself, and while the taste of some of them leaves something to be desired, the home remedies have been useful to for me.
Here are the bad breath home remedies.
1. Parsley. If you eat out at a restaurant you have probably been served parsley as a garnish with some of your spicy meals. Chewing parsley is difficult at the best of times and you need good teeth and stamina to get through it. But, it is a natural breath sweetener. If you can recall chewing parsley after eating spicy food, you will know the difference it makes to the breath afterwards. I know this remedy works for me.
If you don’t fancy chewing parsley, try soaking it in boiling water for at least five minutes. Then you can either drink the water it was boiled in or use it to rinse out your mouth.
2. Chewing the unripe green parts of guava is good for getting rid of bad breath quickly.
3. I am a great believer in the yoga deep breathing exercise as an aid to cleansing the breath. It calms me down and makes me feel good as well.
4. Thyme makes a good mouthwash. Simply steep some of it in hot water for a few minutes, then add a couple of drops of eucalyptus oil and use as a mouthwash whenever you want. It makes the mouth feel fresh afterwards.
5. The juice of a fresh lemon, squeezed and taken as a drink, twice a day. Lemon is a good household cleanser too. It is good for de scaling kettles, for instance. If it tastes too bitter for you, try adding a sweetener, such as honey.
6. Chewing cardamom pods is another remedy to try. Cardamom does not work totally for me but it does take away the worst of the smell.
7. Drink a glass of water. This stops the mouth getting dry, and therefore smelling.
8. Fenugreek tea is a good home remedy for bad breath.
9. Take 5 to 10 drops of tea tree oil and add to a glass of warm water. Use as a mouthwash or gargle, once or twice daily.
10. Proper dental hygiene, which means cleaning and flossing the teeth after eating.
11. Half a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar mixed in a glass of water, and use as a gargle.
12. Buy yourself a tongue scraper, if you don’t already have one. It is definitely the best purchase I have made recently.
13. Chew a sprig of mint. Mint is easy to grow in the garden as well. Just set it and forget it. I personally like the taste of this herb. If you find it too strong, you can soak some in water and use as a mouthwash. It also makes a refreshing drink, mixed with ice cubes in a jug, on a hot sunny day.
By all means try these bad breath home remedies, at your own risk.
